My name is Don Callihan, and I am the Mayor of the City of East Ellijay.
I was sworn in as mayor after the passing of our long-time Mayor Mack West in February of this year.
I have served on the East Ellijay City Council since 2007 and became the mayor pro tem in 2011.
I am a longtime resident of East Ellijay, and I’m proud to have served as the city’s representative on several local boards, including the Ellijay-Gilmer County Water and Sewerage Authority and the Joint Development Authority.
I attend East Ellijay Baptist Church, where I currently serve as a deacon. My wife, Pam, and I raised our three children in East Ellijay, and I cannot imagine a better place to live and work.
I am seeking the office of mayor in the municipal election on Nov. 7. It is my priority to keep East Ellijay the best place possible to live, shop and do business.
I am dedicated to maintaining the level of commitment to our citizens that we have enjoyed for many years. This includes the policy of no city property taxes, free garbage pickup for our residents and continuing our holiday food programs for our senior citizens.
I am a strong supporter of public safety and having our community be the safest it can possibly be for our residents.
