A service commemorating those who fell during the Japanese attack on the U.S. Naval base in Pearl Harbor was held at the veterans memorial site in front of the Gilmer County?Civic Center on National Pearl?Harbor Remembrance Day Friday,?Dec. 7. This year marked the 71st anniversary of the incident that led to U.S. engagement in World War II. At top, North Georgia Honor Guard member J.C.?Wood plays “Taps.”?At bottom, honor guard members bow their heads in remembrance of the over 2,300 men and women who lost their lives in the early morning hours of Dec. 7, 1941.
